Licensed in Colorado and Kansas, and practicing Law since 1972, Don is admitted to practice law in all courts in Colorado and Kansas, as well as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Don graduated with a Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of Kansas in 1972. Don is an experienced and successful trial lawyer, having tried almost one hundred criminal jury trials, including eleven first-degree murder cases (ten of which resulted in acquittals) and two organized crime cases, and a plethora of divorce and other civil cases. Don's practice has been for many years now limited to family law areas such as divorce, legal separation, child custody, paternity, allocation of parental responsibility, and related domestic relations matters.

Don has two adult children and five grandchildren who also live here in Colorado Springs. His son and his son’s wife are both school administrators. His daughter is a librarian and her husband is a school teacher. Don lives in the mountains west of Colorado Springs near Green Mountain Falls with Rochelle, his "true love" of fourteen years, who is a hotel interior designer. Her four adult daughters and two grandsons complete Don’s wonderful family. Don grew up in western Kansas and lived and practiced law there until he was 40 years old. Don has served as the elected prosecuting attorney for two terms in the 1980's in Garden City, Kansas.
